Hey lovelies! Long time, no see!
It’s been a few weeks without a PD blog, but I’m back and here to share stories from behind the scenes of Pretty Disturbia.
This week, the Dollies have been discussing their weirdest dreams. Personally, my weirdest dream is a recurring nightmare where I’m driving frantically – by the way, I don’t know how to drive – and always end up in a crash of some sort. Not the nicest thing to continually conjure up in my sleep!
Leesa B.: “I once dreamt that my teeth fell out and I bought things with them. I pulled more out to buy more items from the shop!”
Valentina: “I had a dream that I was in a huge toy store as a kid, and I’m looking for toys all day long. Then, I realise it’s dark and the store has closed down, leaving me locked in. It’s actually a nightmare.”
Amber: “I have dreams where I’m stuck in a loop, and everytime I think I’m awake, I realise I’m not and then go back to trying to figure out if I’m awake again.”
There is a pseudoscience behind dreams, suggesting that our dreams are manifestations of worries, concerns and events from our waking lives. Whether or not you believe that is another matter, but you can’t deny that our dreams can be fascinating!
If you’re interested in films that follow the magic and strangeness of dreams, something in this little list here might take your fancy:
The Science Of Sleep (2006, Dir. Michel Gondry)
Paprika (2006, Dir. Satoshi Kon)
Abre los ojos (1997, Dir. Alejandro Amenábar) or the American remale Vanilla Sky (2001, Dir. Cameron Crowe)
Before I Wake (2016, Dir. Mike Flanagan)
‘
Wild Strawberries (1947, Dir. Ingmar Bergman)
‘
Dreams (1990, Dir. Akira Kurosawa)
